How to get here

Your international flight will arrive at one of the following airports to get a connecting flight to Padang. These 3 options will get you to Minangkabau International Airport (PDG).

  • Kuala Lumpur international airport Malaysia (KUL)
  • Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) Then Jakarta (CGK) Soekarno Hatta International Airport
  • Jakarta (can go via Bali) Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK).

Upon arrival at Padang Airport our staff will pick you up and transfer you to your nominated hotel. Our packages are 7 days, 10 days, 14 days, and long stay.

There are 2 options to get to the Novali Surf Retreat:

  1. The Mentawai fast ferry leaves Padang at 7am sharp on Fridays arriving at the island around 12pm. Mentawai fast ferry leaves the island at 1pm arriving in Padang around 6.30pm.
  2. Slow ferry leaves Padang to Sikakap Every Wednesday and Saturday at 5pm and arrives on the island at 6am Thursday and Sunday. Leaves the island on every Thursday and Sunday at 5pm and will arrive in Padang on Friday and Monday at 6am in Padang.

Trip Example:

  • 7 days package you can fast ferry on the way and the way back or slow ferry for both ways
  • 10 days package you can slow ferry for both ways
  • 14 day package, you can slow ferry or fast ferry both ways

Please ensure you have the best cover possible for your trip. If anything happens Novali Surf Retreat is by no means liable for any accidents, circumstances, lost or stolen property, Covid situations while you stay with us or during your travel.

You must have medi evacuation on your policy. Covid cover is also recommended. We are far from society, safety of our guests is our main priority.

Cash in Indonesian Rupiah, USD and AUD
You need to bring cash for expenses along your journey and to purchase souvenirs, merchandise and tips. There is an ATM on the island, however we recommend you stock up on your cash in Padang before you come to the island.

All travel documents

  • Surfboards, 2 or 3 are recommended to suit the different waves on offer. Keep in mind to travel as light as possible to ensure all your luggage arrives safely and on time.

  • long and short sleeve rash vests

  • a 32 GB usb stick or more for photo and video package if you choose to purchase after your trip
  • any medication you need whilst abroad in Indonesia
  • ding repair kit
  • international power adapter that converts to Indonesian power points

Once Here

Our friendly staff will pick you up from the airport, deliver you to the hotel, pick you up from the hotel and deliver to ferry both incoming and outgoing, deliver you back to the hotel, and then return you to Padang airport for your departing flight.

Due to the strict early departure on Mentawai Fast you need to land in Padang 1 day prior and leave 1 day later. Many people have missed international flights trying to leave Padang the same day and it’s impossible to make the 6am ferry when arriving.

Once arrived on the island our friendly staff will greet you and transfer you to Novali Mentawai Surf Retreat, approx 8 mins away.

Terms & Conditions

  • The passport is valid for 6 months beyond the intended departure from Indonesia.
  • Bring a credit card for any emergency payments. We need to copy credit cards upon arrival.
  • Bring a first aid kit.

NMST is by no means liable/responsible for missed or cancelled flights, pandemics, natural disasters or cancelled ferries. Make sure you choose the correct insurance policies to cover such events.

Payments
A 20% deposit is required per person to secure your trip. Full payment made strictly 60 days before your trip.

As soon as you pay your deposit that means you as a guest automatically accept all the terms and conditions at Novali Mentawai Surf Retreat.

All deposits and full payment is non-refundable.

Transfer Fee of $300 Aud per person is required. This includes airport pick up, transfer to Padang Hotel, Transfer to ferry, ferry tickets + 20kg luggage, + up to 25kg for surfboard bags. Transfer to NMST and return, 25kg + (Surfboard Bags) is additional cost (contact us for extra pricing).

Illegal substances/drugs are strictly prohibited at Novali Mentawai Surf Retreat and in Indonesia. If you partake in these your stay with us will automatically be terminated and non-refundable.
