Late May into early June we welcomed former WSL pro surfer Lee Winker , a bunch of east coast Aussies along with returning guest Pak Jeff.
It was a great run of swell to say the least, the Indian Ocean loaded us up with back to back swells both South and West which gave us the opportunity to surf all our favourite locations and our secret waves that we choose not to mention . From Thunderbox alone to Rags Right and Left alone our surf guide once again proved how dialled into our zone we are .
We knew there was a Greenbush swell heading our way and it got the whole crew fired up. We surfed it the day before alone again after a morning session at Maccas however the wind got into it late arvo so we jetted back to camp . Next day we headed straight to bush. When our surf guide started smiling and said ‘ we on lads ‘ 15 minutes before arriving it set the tone for “a day to remember ”
It was absolutely firing and Lee Winkler put on a barrel riding clinic all day , We shared the line up with our friends Huey Surf charters (Sooly , Maxy and their guests ) . The vibe in the water was electric with screams and hoots all day long , Our returning guest Pak Jeff got a little to close to the reef and ended up stitching himself up (nasty knee gash) with help from the Huey Crew We finished off the late arvo surfing a barrelling right all to ourselves before sipping on cold bintangs watching the sunset while we cruised back to camp…What a fkn day to remember
It was a first ‘Mentawai Trip’ for Evan , Ryno and Brycey . Evan brought his smooth flowing style of surfing and a super stoked dude . Ryno’s back hand tube riding skills were on point and by the end of trip got the barrel of his life . Brycey didn’t hold back he charged anything and everything the whole trip , ended up on the reef a few times laughed it off and went again . We spent our nites watching all the days action from our photographer on the Tv , sipping on beers and cocktails with delicious entrees and main meals to keep the crew fuelled and full ready for the next day adventures . The NRL State of Origin Series game was on one night so we kicked back and enjoyed the game together .Pak Jeff only spent 2days out of the water and was straight back into the Bush with stitches in his knee to finish his trip .
All in all it was a trip for the books
